Community engagement in the CP core asks students to situate themselves in real
community contexts, identify issues that matter to them and their communities, and
respond through purposeful action. It is designed as experiential learning that
bridges DP courses, the career-related study and the core, emphasising personal,
interpersonal and ethical development.
● Apply academic and career-related knowledge to authentic problems,
decision-making, problem-solving, initiative and accountability.
● Develop empathy, intercultural understanding and a sense of responsibility
towards others, in line with the IB mission, learner profile and Approaches to
Learning (ATLs).
At DPS Bangalore East, learning moves beyond the classroom. It encourages
students to apply their knowledge, passions, and skills to real-world contexts,
fostering empathy, leadership, and personal growth.
Through student-led projects, learners organize community drives, lead fitness or
environmental initiatives, and collaborate on social-impact campaigns. Each
experience helps them develop resilience, teamwork, and self-awareness.
By actively participating in community initiatives, students learn that education is not
confined to classrooms, it’s about understanding the world, taking action, and
making a meaningful difference.
